Nike / apple/ Ferrari / if you have been around the block for a while the above logos need no introduction to the above. The mere site of the logo subliminal sparks some feeling. A certain class comes to mind by the brand identity shown above. These brands have put in the work, the effort, resources, and time to get to the point of becoming very strong brands or in other words, remarkable brands. The mention of their names enables one to recognize their products, narrow in on the quality of the products know the overall message.

Creating a brand for yourself is no walk in the park and cannot happen by chance. One has to be very intentional in all the activities that goes towards building brand identity. The ultimate goal for most brands is to get to brand equity. This then begs the question:- how do I create a super brand? A remarkable brand?

What makes up a brand? What is brand message? What is brand equity?

A brand is a sum total of all your identity that differentiates you from other businesses that are providing the same products or services are you.

A brand message is the words that help consumers understand why they should use your products or services. This how you articulate your promise (What is a promise? )

Brand equity is the commercial value that can be put on a brand. Brand equity increases as the brand gets recognition.

For a business or company to develop a brand, they can take some steps that help them think about their company/ business, the value they add to the customer, and the image it wants to represent. The primary building block of a business is solving a foreseen problem. This then makes it very important to anchor your brand to the solution your company/business is providing.

How to anchor your brand in the solution you are providing

  1. Focus on an emotion.

What emotion would you like your brand to evoke in your customers and potential customer? As you are creating your brand message factor in how you want your customers to feel when they use your products or services. Should they feel it excited and at ease? Serious? informed? Secure? Target that emotion in your brand messaging.

  1. Be consistent in your brand message.

Establish your brand values and embed these values in your brand messages. Knowing your brand values sets the foundation of all your marketing efforts.

  1. Be authentic.

People buy from brands (companies) they can trust. Being authentic calls for honesty and transparency in the services or products being provided. Especially for businesses/ companies that are looking to build their brand online.
